Shreepur school

In 2007, the Sarimilla Trust was approached by the village committee in Shreepur to assist in constructing dormitories, a toilet/shower block, and a kitchen for a local school for disabled children. Over 30 children attend this essential school, with some travelling up to 8 km daily. The village committee sought to provide boarding facilities to alleviate the arduous daily commute, as some children need to be carried by their parents or teachers.

Our History

The Sarimilla Trust was officially established in the UK in 2001, initially sponsoring five children to attend school.

Founding members Steve and Elizabeth were inspired to help children in rural areas after working in a soup kitchen in Kathmandu in 2000, where they observed that most of the people seeking help were from rural areas.

These individuals often migrated to the city during the lean winter months, frequently ending up living on the streets with their families and facing limited job prospects.

The trust is named after Sarimilla, a young girl Steve met in Kathmandu, in 1998 while volunteering on a rural project in Nepal.
